Classwork

The Astronomy projects were collected in class today.  As I collected the projects, students worked on answering two MCAS prompts that are related to our present unit of study.

To gain a further understanding as to how optical telescopes function, students built simple refracting telescopes for the “Modeling a Telescope” lab today in class.

To gain a further understanding as to how optical telescopes function, we examined how light behaves in class today.  Notes, handouts, and physical representations of different types of mirrors and lenses were used to reinforce the lesson.

Complete the worksheet “Reflection in a Spoon” (1 page)

Welcome Back

SCHOOL HAPPENINGS:


Welcome back to school.  Classes start on Tuesday, September 1 st.


Come join S.A.G.E. (Students Actively Greening Earth), beginning on Thursday, September 10th.  The focus of this eco-friendly group is environmental awareness and practices geared at reducing the school’s envionmental footprint.  Meetings will be in B310.

The Drama Club will meet on Tuesday afternoons, from 2 to 3:15 in the cafeteria, beginning in mid-September.

GOLD TEAM NEWS:

Welcome to all of our new students.  Try to start the year off right by coming to class prepared and doing your best to keep up with your daily homework assignments.  Remember, it is easier to keep up than to catch up.
