Constellations were discussed in today’s class.

1) Observing Circumpolar Constellations wkst (2 sides)

2)Spectacular NIght Sky wkst (2 sides)

 

Help Sessions

All students are encouraged to attend my help session next Wednesday.

Notes

The notes for the Astronomy unit have been placed on the “Student Shared Drive” in the school’s computer system, but there are no notes for the engineering project

Projects

The “In a Galaxy Far, Far Away” project in due on December 7th.

Upcoming Test

The test for the Astronomy unit has been sceduled for Tuesday, December 8th.

Classwork

In today’s class we began talking about the evolution of stars.  Notes were given and a short video clip was shown.      

Homework

1)Read pages 78 to 85 in the textbook.

2)Answer questions 1 -3.

3) Complete the “Evolution of Stars” worksheet (2 sides).

 

Help Sessions

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday there will be no afternoon class or help sessions this Wednesday.  All students are encouraged to attend my help sessions next Wednesday.

Class and Homework for 11/23/09

Classwork

In today’s class we began finished talking about the main characteristics of stars and then used the H-R diagram to show how a star’s brightness in related to its surface temperature.      

Homework

Complete the “H-R Diagram” worksheet (2 sides).

 

Help Sessions

There will be no help session this Wednesday due to the early dismissal for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Students needing help or who need to complete missing assignments should plan to attend my help session net Wednesday.

Class and Hmework for 11/12/09

Classwork

Today in class students finished presenting the engineering design projects they have been working on.  After the presentations were complete, the remainder of the movie “Contact” was shown.  If time allowed students then began their Science homework.      

Homework

Read and then answer questions regarding the National Geographic article about the search for life beyond our planet.

Help Sessions

Due to the Veteran’s Day holiday, I will not be having a help session this week.  Any student in need of extra help is encouraged to attend my help session next Wednesday.

Homework

Any student who didn’t complete the questions and drawings in the project packet needs to complete them for Thursday.

Help Sessions

Welcome Back

SCHOOL HAPPENINGS:


Welcome back to school.  Classes start on Tuesday, September 1 st.


Come join S.A.G.E. (Students Actively Greening Earth), beginning on Thursday, September 10th.  The focus of this eco-friendly group is environmental awareness and practices geared at reducing the school’s envionmental footprint.  Meetings will be in B310.

The Drama Club will meet on Tuesday afternoons, from 2 to 3:15 in the cafeteria, beginning in mid-September.

GOLD TEAM NEWS:

Welcome to all of our new students.  Try to start the year off right by coming to class prepared and doing your best to keep up with your daily homework assignments.  Remember, it is easier to keep up than to catch up.

My late night is Wednesday, come in and work on your labs, homework or anything else that you have questions about.
