I went over the criteria for an in-class mapping project in today’s classes.   I discussed what the maps required and then modeled both a poorly drawn example and a well drawn one, asking students to point out the mistakes made on the poorly drawn example.

In today’s classes students we reviewed some of the map reading skills that were addressed and assessed in labs and activities that the students worked on last week.  After reviewing the concepts and answering student questions, the remaining class time will be used to begin the chapter 8 review.

 A & E Blocks: Complete the following parts of the Chapter 8 Review on pages 304 and 305 in the textbook:  Multiple Choice #1 to 9, True or False #1 to 6, Concept Mastery #1 to 7, and Critical Thinking #1 to 5

Classwork and Homework for 1/13/12

Classwork

In today’s classes students were given instruction on how to draw a map profile for a selected are of a topographic map.   After watching me demonstrate the technique on the classroom’s activeboard, students were given topographic maps of an area new Damon Mound, Texas with which to practice the various topographic map reading skills we have been working on in class.
